PROJECT DETAILS
THE PROJECT
Alice Ward, the dedicated children’s unit at the Oswestry based hospital, provides specialist advice, diagnosis and treatment for children between 0-18 years with bone, joint and muscular disorders.
Garden for Alice is a project designed to enhance the current garden area to ensure it is inclusive for all the children RJAH cares for, while being accessible throughout the day and during the evening.
The aim is to provide a private, safe and stimulating environment which not only promotes health and well-being but will also offer a calming escape from the hospital environment for long term and returning patients.
The beautifully designed garden will see the introduction of many therapeutic features, including a covered space, woodland walk, bridge, vegetable patch, hornbeam trail, garden room and moon arches.
THE CHALLENGE
THE SOLUTION
To achieve the desired projection and enhanced protection, Roché worked alongside Weinor to specify and install the Weinor Artares. This Louvred Roof system was essential for creating adaptable, shaded, and weatherproof spaces that support year-round use and therapeutic engagement.
The addition of the Weinor w17 sliding doors expands the versatility of the structure, allowing further enclosure and weather protection, or an open and airy space during sunny spells. The Weinor Artares Vertical Screens were also seamlessly integrated into the construction of the louvred roof, increasing privacy and protection from low sun levels.
Weinor LED lighting strips and Tempura Heaters allows patients to comfortably utilise the space later in the evenings and extends its year-round usage.
